During Atlanta United's Mexico pre-season tour there have been some major transfers in world football--George Campbell to Montreal, Atlanta signing Luis Abram from Granada, and Chelsea signing some guy named Enzo from Benfica.
After Atlanta United's dismal defensive display against Chattanooga FC last weekend it makes sense that the front office would bring in a center back with lots of experience despite being only 26. We signed the Peruvian from the Spanish 2nd league after he completed a fairly successful loan spell at Cruz Azul.
Apart from getting playing time against some world class talent in the La Liga Abram also has international experience, earning 31 appearances for the Peruvian National Team. Earlier in his career he has also won two Peruvian Primera titles with Sporting Cristal.
Overall, I think this is a good signing for the team. We have let both George Campbell and Alan Franco move onto CF Montreal and Sao Paulo, respectively, so it will be good to have some more defensive reinforcements, especially as Miles gets back to 100% fitness.
In other news Atlanta United has also let Edwin Mosquera go to Defensa y Justicia on loan. This is a much needed loan as he is a fast paced winger with lots of potential, but he won't get enough minutes behind Derrick Etienne Jr. and Luiz Araujo to be able to develop as Atlanta United hopes he will.
