The mythical third signing mentioned by Gonzalo Pineda weeks ago has finally been revealed as D.C. United and ex-Columbus Crew striker Miguel Berry. The Spaniard rounds off Luis Abram and Gigi as the third major signing for Atlanta United this transfer window.
Despite a lot of fans calling for a defensive midfielder to bolster that area of the field the new potential signing comes in the form of a 6 foot 3 striker. He is a big target in the box that can jump and despite poor numbers at D.C. United had some good stats at Columbus. In 2022 he had 2 goals in thirty appearances, for both D.C. and Columbus, which is not the output you want from your striker, even a relatively cheap one. But looking back to 2021 he had a more impressive 9 goal contributions in 18 matches. That is very respectable and more than good enough to provide some depth up top, which will be needed for the swath of matches this year. He is also decent value at a reported $250,000 in general allocation money.
